A ONE-ON-ONE WORKSHOP
FROM CAPTURING THE SCENE TO THE
(Nikon DSLR and Sony Mirrorless Systems Only)
For the intermediate photographer who is familiar with basics of Photoshop and Lightroom, but would love to learn more detail regarding how to take a properly exposed and composed image and then edit that image in Lightroom and/or Photoshop, this one-day workshop might be for you! (This class is not for beginners.)
GETTING IT RIGHT IN CAMERA:
There are lots of existing workshops for instruction in a group setting. That works well for those who know all the functions of their cameras and how they interact with each other; however, what if you are still a bit confused with how all the settings work together? Do you know the difference between focus mode and focus area? What about the different metering modes? Did you know that Manual Mode is different than your lens's manual focus? How about using your histogram or determining your hyperfocal distance? This workshop can answer these questions for you in a simple manner pertaining to YOUR camera.
EDITING IN LIGHTROOM:
Group workshops are also ok for editing but don't allow for one-on-one work with an image you just took. Working one-on-one allows us to discuss your image and teach you how to work with shadows, highlights, sharpening and more! There is a method to the madness in editing and my goal is for you to understand more about the method....with a touch of madness for artistry's sake!
If you've often wondered exactly how to improve your technique with undivided attention, this private workshop is for you!
WHY JUST NIKON AND SONY?
With all the makes and models, I think it best to teach the systems I have. Even within Nikon and Sony there are different models that behave differently. Prior to our workshop, I will need your Sony or Nikon make and model as well as a link to your manual online so that I can review it prior to our workshop in order to maximize the time we have together.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
We will choose a location in which we will use your camera to capture the scene and then come back to my house or yours to edit them on your computer via Lightroom or Photoshop, depending on your experience. I bolded those words because I want you to know that you will be doing a lot of the work. I will show you how at first, but I really want you to learn how to do everything so you need to be hands-on!
If you know Lightroom, we will edit one of your images in Lightroom utilizing all the techniques I use, and if you have a basic understanding of Photoshop, we can import it into Photoshop (after the Lightroom adjustments) to do some editing there as well. You must have at least opened Lightroom on your computer and used it a little bit prior to this workshop to ensure it runs properly on your computer. There is nothing worse than spending money and time for me to fix your computer issues rather than creating beautiful art!
WHERE WILL WE GO?
We will discuss the location ahead of time which will depend on time of day, what you want to learn and the weather. The workshop will work best if we photograph in the morning and edit after that.
WHAT THIS IS NOT
This will not be a class in learning how to import/export your images nor will it be about presets or tagging, etc.. If you don't know how to import/export your images, I will do it for you on your computer for this workshop, but I won't give too much instruction on this. The reason I do it this way is because organization in Lightroom, which includes import/export, is truly a class on its own. (To find out more about this topic, you can schedule a one-on-one class for Lightroom by clicking here.)
This all-day workshop will be $250 and paid in advance to me via paypal. I feel that this amount is extremely reasonable considering all the workshops out there that are much more and give you much less personalized instruction. The workshop will be approximately six hours.
